Planning Your Bridal Hair & Makeup Trial: A Birmingham Bride’s Guide

Booking your bridal hair and makeup trial is one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning — and one of the easiest to get wrong if you don’t know what to expect. Here’s how to make the most of yours.

Why a trial matters

A trial run lets you and your artist agree on the exact look before the big day itself — no surprises, no last-minute changes. It’s especially important for Indian and Asian bridal looks, where hair, makeup and jewellery all need to work together across multiple outfit changes.

When to book your trial

We recommend booking your trial four to six weeks before the wedding, once you’ve chosen your outfits but before hair and makeup decisions are locked in. This gives enough time to make adjustments without the pressure of a looming deadline.

What to bring

Bring photos of looks you love, but also bring your outfit or a photo of it, your jewellery, and any dupatta or veil you’ll be wearing so your artist can see how everything comes together. If you’re having multiple outfit changes, let your artist know so they can plan the transitions between looks.
