Eyebrow Threading vs Waxing: Which Is Right for You?
If you’re weighing up eyebrow threading against waxing, you’re not alone — it’s one of the questions we get asked most often at the salon. Both are brilliant ways to get clean, well-shaped brows, but they work differently, suit different skin types, and give slightly different results. Here’s how to decide which is right for you.
How eyebrow threading works
Threading uses a twisted length of cotton thread to lift and remove hair directly from the follicle, row by row. It’s incredibly precise, which makes it the go-to choice for sculpting a sharp, defined brow shape. Because nothing touches your skin except the thread itself, it’s a great option if you have sensitive skin or you’re using active skincare ingredients like retinol, which can make waxing riskier.
How waxing works
Waxing removes hair in one smooth motion using warm wax, making it faster for larger areas. It’s a popular choice for eyebrows, upper lip, and full face treatments where you want a quick, thorough result. Waxing can also make regrowth feel softer over time with regular treatments.
So which should you choose?
If precision and shape are your top priority, threading is usually the winner — especially for eyebrows. If you want speed, or you’re treating a larger area, waxing is hard to beat. Many of our clients actually do both: threading for eyebrow shape, and waxing for lip, chin, or full face. At Simi’s, our therapists are trained in both techniques and happy to talk through what will work best for your skin and the look you’re going for.
